The Bitcoin Board

Everything Bitcoin publishes about itself, on one page: how many coins exist, how hard they are to mine, what is waiting to be confirmed, and how long until the next halving. The network is the only source — nobody is asked to take a figure on faith.

Every date past the last halving is extrapolated at ten minutes a block, which is a target rather than a promise. Read them as years, not appointments.

How these numbers are made

Three different kinds of number sit on this page, and they are not equally true. Rather than set them all in the same type and let you assume, here is which is which.

The clocks — time since the last block, and the two countdowns — tick without asking anything, because they are arithmetic on a timestamp. The halving countdown assumes Bitcoin's ten-minute target, so it is an estimate that jumps a little each time a block actually lands.
